3 Observations - Spurs Last Night.

Let me start by saying I haven't not been to a game since we lost to Dallas.  It was a horrible loss mostly because my buddy was in town from Dallas and he's not the most gracious of winners.  So...a few things.

  1. As a concert goer I should know this but....Do not wear OPEN TOED sandals to ANY event you plan on using the urinal at....
  2. They now have photogs milling around taking snapshots - I do not know what the exact reason for this is but I do know it is a great way to drive people to a website and if you're really smart gather their email address by requiring them to log in. I'll check it out later tonight.
  3. What is the liability of dropping donuts from the sky during a time out?  What if a knuckle head jumps for the Mrs. Baird's white powder donuts and drops 30 feet on to the cold concrete...?

FYI - I CAUGHT THE DONUTS!

S.O.B!

So I was off to a good start blogging daily last week, then I didn't make it to the office this weekend - however I did fly a kite on the top of E-Rock. Finally, something more interesting to me than time at the office.

"Blackberry Brandy, three dollar wine, tall boys and forties they get me every time...."

Sorry T Bird Break.

When do you fire a client?  Well I guess whenever the hell you want.

Some of the advice I've received:
  1. wait until they fire you
  2. no don't fire them - it's too much money to lose
  3. do it and do what you love.

Ok so what do I love?  My community - "San Antone to Bone!", a well orchestrated event and music.  Can I make a living doing it? Hell ya.

Guess what - they Vienna Boys Choir sold some tickets.  Come on San Antonio we need for Yo Yo Ma to be a sell out.  I had no idea what to expect from the Silk Road Ensemble, but it's worth checking out the video.

Tucker's Update..Don't tell anyone!

Day 3 of the J Fishman, blog program.  If my job wasn't fun - I'd move on.  Just like I did at FOX KABB 3 years ago.

I'm running out the door to meet with our new Chef at Tucker's!  We are relaunching lunch and a new late night menu in March.

Tonight we celebrate the Soul Spot's One Year Anniversary!  I can not say thank you enough to my friends, acquantances, FB peeps, Soul Spot dancers and JJ Lopez and Scuba Gooding Sr.

Steve Balser, I'm gonna miss you.  JJ Lopez and the Tucker's family - let's keep shakin' and makin' bacon.

Tonight we celebrate.

M is for March

What's shakin' -

In addition to being recently awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Obama, Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble will make their way to SA on March 31st.

If you are inspired by art, if you appreciate music, if you are a cultural activist and you miss this show....leave.

Get out of San Antonio because local producers are doing great things and we do not want you here if you are not going to show your support for even this caliber of artist.

March will be a busy month for all of us, not mentioning Mardi Gras and St. Pat's.

Here are a couple options for your calendar.

Planning to Wait or Waiting to Plan.....

I'm waiting on a client to show up to our meeting - no big deal, they're busy people.  Which is good or I would have them as a client.)

Great day yesterday, lunch with Jack Fishman.  Well not "one on one" but, lunch none the less.  Couple things he metioned regarding Social Media, Selling tickets and keeping the audience engaged.

Everyone has heard these things before, the difference is that he's doing them.

  1. Plan Your Post/Create a Strategy
  2. Blog Daily
  3. Use Video
  4. Post more than just an ad
  5. Plan Your Post/ Create a Strategy
The symphony is a hard sell, a rock show in SA - not so much.  But sellouts is what I'm after.  It comes down to having a goal and a strategy to reach that goal.
